Is god really omnipotent ?

There is no paradox. As you said, if He could not lift it He would not be omnipotent, and therefore would not be God. So, this inane questions, which has been posted on this forum hundreds of times, is really asking if God can create a situation in which He is not God. No, He cannot - which has absolutely nothing to do with omnipotence.
