Can my employer tax my tips from waiting tables by puting it in my check? Dosent that mean I'm paying taxes 2x

If I work a buffet banquet, I understand that the tip goes on a check, but if I am waiting on tables, taking the order, running the food & cleaning the table, shouldn't the entire tip come to me & not in a check?
